ICSC spotlighted some of the outstanding shopping center and retail achievements in the U.S. with its Design and Development Awards, at the Centerbuild conference, in Scottsdale, Ariz. Each year these awards recognize those shopping center owners, developers, managers, architects and designers who work on projects that are benchmarks for the global retail real estate community.
This year two Westfield projects tied for Gold in the category for renovation or expansion of an existing project measuring over 500,000 square feet: Westfield Galleria at Roseville (Calif.) and Westfield Southcenter, in Tukwila, Wash. The Walgreens in Times Square, in New York City, took the Gold in the category for stores measuring over 10,000 square feet. WS Development’s Legacy Place, in Dedham, Mass., won the Gold for innnovative design and development of a new mixed-use project.
